Phyllis Hollis is a patron of the arts and an advocate for Under-represented Artists, Female Artists and Art Professionals. Launched in January 2020, her podcast and social media platform, @Cerebral_Women, offers unique content created to promote visual artists. Featured guests include artists vanessa german, Carrie Mae Weems, Suchitra Mattai, Independent curator Monique Long, Titus Kaphar, Thaddeus Mosley, Arcmanoro Niles, and curator AntwuanSargent. She’s also featured several Silver Art Projects alumni artists including Oscar Yi Hou, Chase Hall, Adrienne Elise Tarver, and Alanna Fields.
Hollis is a trustee of GuildHall of East Hampton NY, and formerly a trustee of Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, ArtTable and the School of Visual Arts Alumni Society in NYC. She is an independent director of Diversified Healthcare Trust (DHC), a NASDAQ traded REIT. Hollis is a member of the MoMA Black Arts Council executive committee. She has a proven track record successfully driving DEI initiatives and programs for non-profits.
In 2023, Hollis contributed an essay to the Brooklyn Rail Critics Page titled ‘Is our obsession with money a curse to humanity’. She is a special guest contributor to the docu-series ‘Who’s Behind Black Art’.
Hollis has more than thirty years’ experience in Institutional Investment Banking and is the former CEO of a boutique broker-dealer in NYC.
